My approach to therapy involves developing a connection with others to help them make positive changes in their lives and their family and interpersonal relationships. My therapeutic style is client-centered and I strive to form an empathetic and collaborative relationship with clients that empower them to take an active role in their treatment in a supportive environment. When clients take an active role in their treatment they are able to develop self-awareness and make lasting, positive changes in their lives. I use an integrative approach that stems from Cognitive-behavioral therapy, Family systems therapy, Humanistic and Experiential therapy, Solution-focused therapy, Narrative therapy, mindfulness approaches, and psychodynamic and psycho historical perspectives.
I welcome individuals of different races, cultures, religions, and sexual orientations. I have experience working with individuals, couples, and families from diverse backgrounds. My experience also includes treating individuals struggling with symptoms of depression and anxiety, family and interpersonal relationships, sexual trauma, and PTSD issues. I have special interests in working with adolescents, family of origin issues, acculturation issues, sexual abuse issues, women’s issues, spiritual issues, and grief and loss, and premarital counseling. I also have training in sexual assault counseling.
