Every individual embodies wisdom that guides and directs their path in life, but there can also be patterns and habits that call for help and assistance from the outside. My role as a counselor is to collaborate with you to uncover the strengths you already have, help you build new skills and techniques, and update lifelong adaptations that no longer serve you. Entering a therapeutic relationship is an important decision made with hope and a desire to live a happier, more balanced life. From a place of safety and connection we can build a clearer understanding of your life and together we can make space for empowerment, confidence, and resilience.
My experience includes but is not limited to working with individuals struggling with symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, insomnia, mood dysregulation, eating disorders, body image, shame, codependency, setting healthy boundaries, hyper-independence, and hyper-vigilance.
My approach is eclectic, which means that I draw from different therapeutic models and interventions based on your needs including discovering and working with Attachment Styles, and utilizing Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavior Strategies, Mindfulness Based Interventions, Solution and Strength-Based approaches, Person-Centered Therapy, and addressing the polyvagal and autonomic nervous system through education and mindfulness and movement. I value and have experience working with the mind-body connection and incorporate simple movement, mindfulness, and breathwork into sessions. Working on cognitive skills and techniques combined with bringing the nervous system into balance will help you achieve your goals.
As a Cisgender Caucasian woman I feel it is my responsibility to educate myself on culturally sensitive and inclusive approaches to collaborate with individuals from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and religions. I nurture and value an open minded and holistic approach towards individual beliefs, traditions, and culture backgrounds, and strive to integrate the fullness of every individual in the healing process.
